The first step in rolling out Hero Balancer has been made. Preparations have been made for the application of Hero Balancer in the renewable heat and cold installation of the Zeewaarts apartment complex in IJmuiden.
The first application of Hero Balancer outside of the R & D project will start in autumn of 2013. In cooperation with Housing company Velsen, ZON Energie is working on the integration of Hero Balancer in the newly built apartment complex Zeewaarts in IJmuiden. This project has a somewhat more commercial character and can be seen as the first step in rolling out Hero Balancer. This application takes place in the context of the UKP regulation of AgentschapNL.
Hero Balancer decides how the heat can be generated and distributed best.
All the knowledge and experience gained so far has been incorporated into the renewable heat and cold installation of the apartment complex, consisting of three blocks with a total of 103 apartments. The installation consists of a heat pump with a soil source and a solar thermal system. Heat from the soil and the sun can be supplied to both floor heating and hot tap water. Hero Balancer decides how the heat can be generated and distributed best. Water buffers with a total capacity of 6000 liters provide the short term storage of durable heat. With this relatively large buffer capacity, Hero Balancer has a lot of room for optimization of the heat regulation.
